  Lianne could hear soft sighs as she was carried off, but she was too busy enjoying the feeling of being safe. The last few days had not been relaxing, but now, she felt that things were finally going to even out.

  He used his own band to open their door, and he latched the door behind them.

  She ran her fingers along the closure of his black tunic, and he glanced down at her. “What are you doing?”

  “Turning theory into practice.” She looked up at him through her lashes. “Complaining?”

  His slow headshake preceded him taking her to the bedroom.

  When he set her on her feet, she put the technique into action as she pried open the black fabric and pulled it open. She had seen him shirtless in the gym, but this was different. Here, she could touch the velvet nap of his skin and rub her cheek against him.

  Lianne pushed the tunic off his shoulders, and it dropped to the ground with a thud. She stepped back and sighed. “You are very nice to look at.”

  He growled. “Either continue or I am going to.”

  She laughed and opened her uniform, slipping it from her shoulders and off her hips. She had to pause to pull her shoes and socks off, but when she stood again, she was wearing her underwear and a grin.

  Sorrok peeled off his boots and unfastened his trousers, peeling them down his legs with ease. When he stepped free and kicked the clothing away, he was extremely naked.

  He smiled as their food arrived. “You went from single to hunted to Breeder in a day. Don’t be surprised by what happens next.”

  She made a face but wondered about the possibility.

  The Nool smiled. “Yes, you have started gestation. Congratulations. We can see three viable embryos, and we will remove them for you before they interfere with your system.”

  Lianne bolted upright. “Remove them?”

  “Of course.” The Nool looked to Sorrok, as if asking him to explain.

  Sorrok held her hand, and he whispered in her ear. He explained why she was there, why all the humans were there, and that her children would still be hers, but they needed more of them.

  Growing an army took a lot of fighters, and her two boys and girl were the start of the new Human-Rrassic.

  So, Brace for Humanity has started. Yay! Each book will highlight a different species. Heart of the Hunted will concentrate on the Luthin and the anomaly at the port.
